What the fee does not tell you
The official fee is one line of the real cost. The rest depends on you.
- Your preparation hours. Multiply your hours by what an hour of your time is worth. The planner on the home page turns an exam date and weekly hours into a total.
- Time on exam day. The exam runs 120 minutes. Add travel or setup time for a proctored sitting.
- Renewal. The credential is valid for 12 months. An on-time renewal is an unproctored assessment on the Partner Academy at no charge. If the credential lapses, you retake the full exam at the full fee. Anthropic says fuller renewal details will be shared before the first renewals.
- Retakes. After a failed attempt you wait 14 days, then 30 days after the second fail and 90 days after the third. You get at most 4 attempts per rolling 12 months, per exam, and each attempt costs the full fee (the partner discount still applies).
- Reschedule or cancel. Do it at least 48 hours ahead through Pearson VUE, per the Partner Academy FAQ and the Pearson VUE page. A late change or a no-show forfeits the fee.
Compare with CCAR-F
The Architect Foundations exam also costs $125 and has the same 720 pass score. The fee does not separate the two exams. The audience does. See CCDV-F vs CCAR-F.
How to think about the price
For most working engineers, $125 is small next to the preparation hours. The decision usually turns on whether the credential matches your role. The worth-it page covers that question.
